Numerical Investigation and Optimization of Variable Guide Vanes Adjustment in a Transonic Compressor

In the present work, numerical simulation and optimization was carried out to analyze mechanism of variable guide vanes (VGVs) a transonic compressor. A seven-stage compressor including three-stage VGVs studied. The were adjusted individually jointly under different IGV opening degrees. Changes in performance shock wave analyzed, coupling effect VGV joint adjustment summarized. Aiming at maximum efficiency, turning angles optimized. novel phenomenon found wherein can affect not only its own that adjacent downstream blades, but also upstream blades. Incidence blades are improved, those deteriorated. weakens shock-induced boundary layer separation. optimal solution for is combination solutions single adjustments. improves efficiency by 0.2–1.93%
